An uplifter is an electronic music element that continuously shifts parameters to create a rising effect. Most commonly used are pitch-shifters, which uses the pitch as the parameter being modulated. It is extremely widely used in almost all electronic styles. It is an element that aims to create tension and anticipation in the listener.
There are many ways to synthesize uplifters. Here one example of an extremely basic uplifting sound:
- Use any OSC Waveform
- Create a Triangle LFO
- Set the LFO to an extremely low frequency.
- Enable envelope/retrigger mode
- Use the LFO to pitch the OSC slowly over time
