The best Keyboards for Music Producers

A good Keyboard can make a whole lot of difference when it comes to the production of music. In this little article, we go over five of the best Keyboards money can buy in 2022.

The Roccat Vulcan is supremely sexy and comes on a solid Aluminum base. Instead of cherry switches, this keyboard features the house’s own aptly named “Titan”. As a music producer, I would go for the low profile and silent switches since you do not want to have the aggressive clickiness of a red switch in your studio. This pretty much counts for all keyboards with mechanical switches. You want that mechanical feel, but with as less noise as possible.

Writing music on this keyboard is bliss. Of course, we are in the premier league when it comes to mechanical keyboards so this comes at a price. But as a proud owner of a Vulcan I can confidently say that it is worth its asking price. Good things ultimately always have their price. But what you get is nothing less than one of the best Keyboards in the world that is excellently crafted and comes with high-end features as well as a build quality to match in the market. This is my personal first pick since it is not overwhelmingly expensive but extraordinarily good in pretty much all regards.

Price: approx. 120-150€

Apex Pro by Steelseries

apex pro rgb keyboard mechanical music producer

Another top-line producer of Keyboard is of course Steelseries. Everybody that ever touched ANY of them sweet sexy keyboards knows what I am talking about. This is the top-notch premium class of Keyboards and it of course has a price tag to match. The Apex Pro currently goes for 229$ but in our opinion, it is ultimately well worth the buck. Good things have their price. What you will get is one of the best high-performance keyboards around that not only works well but also looks extremely slick while doing so. You will not regret the purchase of this one, and if you are a steelseries fan I will hardly have to convince you.

If you want to go the wireless route we also have a tip for you. The Logitech G915 Lightspeed. This mechanical Keyboard comes with mechanical low-profile switches and promises lag-free function. It looks great and works well. This is what I would choose if we absolutely couldn’t live without a wireless keyboard in the studio.

Corsair K100 RGB Optical

Next up in line is an Optical Switch based device. The Corsair K100 RGB Optical is a sight to be hold and an uncompromising high-end keyboard. The build quality is excellent and so are the insanely responsive optical switches. Definitely a beast of a Keyboard. It comes equipped with Corsair in-house OPX switches, has an insane amount of RGB lightning all over, and delivers the goods in any top music production studio. Of course, it is also a fantastic product for gaming.

Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed

Razer mechanical keyboard best music producer

If you do not care about size and can live without the Numpad the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed might be the right choice for you. As a TKL keyboard, this can also be a fantastic travel companion. It is designed to be as small as possible and just comes with the right amount of keys for a TKL keyboard. It feels comfortable to use and has excellent switches. Of course, Razer wouldn’t be Razer if they wouldn’t slightly overprice the thing. Coming in hot at around 150 bucks it is definitely on the ultra-pricey side of mini keyboards on the market. And if you think about the fact that you get something as luxurious as the Aimo series from Roccat for the same or even less money. To make it short: It is good, but it is pricey.
